Power Equipment Australasia

The outdoor power equipment industry has historically been perceived to be a male-dominated profession with women underrepresented in the workforce. It’s something Emily Robison is well aware of. Steering Bendigo Outdoor Power Equipment, a successful STIHL dealership in Kangaroo Flat in Victoria, this young female dealer is breaking stereotypes and assumptions about the kind of work women can do and, more importantly, have the skills to do. “I started the dealership in 2019 when I was 22 years old,” says Emily. “I set it up with my husband, who is a mechanic. He left his job of 17 years to join me in the business. Most people assume that since we are doing it together, he is the driving force, as it is a typical male-dominated industry. I am trying to subtly change that view of women in the industry. Women can be successful in this trade as well,” says Emily. Serving the Bendigo and surrounding communities, Emily has not only grown the business and customer base but the dealership now has a staff of six. “We pride ourselves on offering the highest level of service possible to both home owners and commercial customers. With a full service workshop as well as a well-stocked showroom, we are able to service what we sell, as well as what we don’t. We service and repair all makes and models of small engine power equipment and ATV and side-by-side vehicles,” she says.
