W

elcome to the August/

September edition. We are

pleased to bring you an issue

packed with updates, features and new

products as you start preparing for the high

season. It has been encouraging to hear that

business has been busy for many over recent

months and we hope this continues to be

the case as we move into spring.

As always, we have been busy keeping up

to date with industry stories and standards

to produce a magazine that is relevant and

interesting to our readership. If you would

like to let us know what kind of content

you would like to see, feel free to fill out the

feedback form on our website.

EMISSION STANDARDS ON

THE HORIZON

Non-road spark ignition engines and

equipment (NRSIEE) emission stand-

ards have been the talk of the industry

for some time. PEA recently attended

an update hosted by the Boating

Industry Association of Victoria on

small engine emission changes, with

particular emphasis on the evaporative

laws. Presenters at the event provided

practical ways that industry professionals

can be prepared for upcoming changes

and explained how the standards will

be enforced. The event was held as a

means to educate the industry early and

provide time for preparation. Director of

Air uality Section, Department of the

Environment, Declan O’Connor-Cox

acknowledged, “The industry will need a

substantial amount of time to adapt. We

think a time period of about two years is

reasonable.”

You can read about the insightful

update on pages 25-26.

PUMPS AND IRRIGATION

UPDATES

Following on from the Irrigation Australia

Conference and Exhibition and Agfest, we

have included two feature stories on waste

water management and flood water pumps.

We trust that this will be helpful in

light of the widespread flooding Australia

has experienced over the past months, and

hope that you and your businesses have not

been adversely affected. You can read about

waste water management on page 17 and

flood water pumps on pages 18-19.

A NEW SECTION

can read the review on page 31.
