H appy New Year everyone! I hope all were reunited with your families and a wonderful oliday season was had. As I sit at my desk mid – December in an attempt to comment for the January/February 2021 issue of P.E.A. I had a serious case of writers block, when I received an alert regarding President Biden’s speech upon securing the US Electoral College vote. Hopefully, this President will place a higher emphasis on people’s health and stem the thus far uncontrollable surge of COVID-19 that the citizens of the United States are experiencing. To date, more citizens have died in this pandemic than the soldiers they have lost in all the wars they have fought. Another alert from my trusty iPhone confirms China banning Australian coal imports. A big blow as this is worth A$13billion. China's reason is that is they are moving towards cleaner energy. China is flexing its muscles as one of their strategies, in pursuit of global economic ascendancy. While on the subject of the pursuit of cleaner energy, our Research & Development article on page 11 is on self- charging batteries. STIHL’s Advertorial on pages 16 & 17 covers their full range of battery powered OPE. Alexander Moon has contributed to Battery safety in her article on page 28. Jo Katsos’s contribution on pages 18 & 19 is all about STIHL’s focus on sustainability as well as to advise dealers to encourage sustainable practice in their marketing plans. John Power’s Operator Profile on Olio Bello is a fine example of organic sustainable growing on pages 20 to 23. Gary Fook’s explains the tax on electric vehicles as it is a point of contention especially in our industry on pages 26 & 27. The feature article on Ride-On’s which does cover battery power can be found on pages 8 to 10. It’s a given summer brings fires and flood and with this in mind Warwick Lorenz shares his knowledge on the proper use of waste pumps on pages 30 & 31. In computer Guru on page 23, Stephen Fairbrother does his annual lesson on how to clean out data for a more efficient running system as this issue raises the most amount of phone enquiries. Timbersports 2020 was virtual in venues across Australia during the time of Covid. Interestingly enough this was pulled off with the champion announced in the report on page. 29. We finish off with New Products and it’s a wrap. All The Best for Now. Elaine Sharman Editor
